GREAT FUN FOR KIDS

Planning & Curriculumn

Meganursery is committed to ensuring that your child receives quality play and learning.

Planning & Curriculum

Here at Meganursery we understand the importance of giving each child the opportunity to learn and develop in their own individual way.

We have devised a unique planning that is individual to our nursery.  Our planning structure enables all staff to individually plan for each child and meet their individual developmental needs, with the support of parents.

Our planning also links to the Birth to Three Matters framework, Foundation Stage Curriculum and Every Child Matters outcomes:

Birth to Three Matters

Birth to Three Matters is a frame work which focuses on four main areas:

A Strong Child

A Skilful Communicator

A Competent Learner

A Healthy Child

All these areas together create the foundation for a growing, healthy child allowing them to develop at their own pace in their own world. Allowing children to learn new skills and explore through every day experiences.

Foundation Stage Curriculum

The Foundation Stage covers six areas of learning:

Personal, Social & Emotional development

Communication, Language and Literacy development

Mathematical Development

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Physical Development

Creative Development

The Foundation Stage covers all curriculum based learning for all 3 year olds and continues through your child's first year at school.

Every Child Matters

Every Child Matters centres on a set of five outcomes for children:-

Being Healthy: Enjoying good physical and mental health and living a healthy lifestyle.

Staying Safe: Being protected from harm and neglect.

Enjoying and Achieving: Getting the most out of life and developing the skills for adulthood.

Making a Positive Contribution to the Local Community: Being involved with the community and society and not engaging in anti-social or offending behaviour.

Economic Well-Being: Not being prevented by economic disadvantage from achieving their full potential in life.

Meganursery Key Worker System

Every child within the nursery has an allocated key worker. A key worker is responsible for planning, observing, monitoring development and liasing with parents.

A key workers role is extremely important when settling a child into the nursery. The key worker is usually your child's first contact at nursery.  Here at Meganursery we plan individually for each child. The key worker role in this process is vital.

The Planning Process

The planning procedure is made up of 4 main areas:

Observations:  On a daily basis all key workers observe children whilst they play. These observations are a great tool in identifying where your child's developmental needs are. Observations identify the next steps for your child.  Observations are also linked to your child's progress record, our weely planning and your child's learning story.

Individual Learning Plans: After observing your child, your child's key worker will develop an individual learning plan for your child. The learning plan is then implemented throughout the days that your child attends nursery. Your child's individual needs are specifically planned for and specific learning experiences are implemented.

Weekly Plan:  On a weekly basis all key workers bring together their individual learning plans. Together they plan what learnimg experiences to provide to best support the children throughout the week.

Links to Birth to Three Matter, Foundation Stage & Every Child Matters: Staff carefully link your child's learning to the three documents - Birth to Three Matters, Foundation Stage & Every Child Matters 5 outcome. Staff understand all three areas and ensure your child's learning is specifically linked to these stages.

All the observations that are recorded on your child are then placed into a book  called a 'learning story', and a photograph taken as evidence of  their learning. This book is great to see your child's learning journey throughout their time at nursery.
